White willow has been called “Herbal Aspirin” or “Nature’s Aspirin” due to its salicin content. Salicin is metabolized by our bodies into salicylic acid. This is the natural chemical which the primary ingredient in commercial aspirin, acetylsalicylic acid, is synthesized to mimic.
